Kart Track racing is arguably the cheapest, safest, and most enjoyable form of motorsport in the world. It’s no surprise that some of the most legendary names in racing were born on a kart track.
Whether you are looking to be the next Valentino Rossi or just want a safe environment to enjoy pushing the envelope, Desert Park Raceway has a place for you.
The Bare minimum
In order to ride, all riders are required to wear:
- A full-face helmet with eye protection that meets either Snell 2010+, ECE 22-05, ECE 22-06, BSI 6658-A, or FIM racing homologation standards. New MX DOT helmets from a recognized brand are also okay
- Abrasion-resistant gloves designed for road use (not MX gloves)
- Boots that cover the ankle and leave no gap to the bottom of the leathers/pants.
Other gear is HIGHLY recommended, but at the discretion of the rider/parent.
Track Information
Our track is limited to 450cc 4-stroke engines and 250cc 2-stroke engines. If you are looking to get into the sport for the first time and do not have a bike, reach out via our contact us page – we may have a bike and some loaner gear available.
Please note that our race track is located in a desert environment, and we have no running water or electricity. If you plan to visit, make sure to bring plenty of liquids, food, and some form of shade to stay cool.
In order to visit our track, a liability waiver must be signed, vehicles must be tech-inspected, and a daily rate fee may apply.
Getting into Racing
Minimoto racing does not require a racing license, although race staff may disqualify participants should they deem it necessary. We do recommend having some track experience before entering races, but we do offer various classes and levels that appeal to riders of all ages and skill levels. We have racers as young as 3, and into their 70s.
Registering for a race requires an account and completed profile. You can purchase race entries in our store.
Bike Protection & Self Tech
In order to ride your bike at Desert Park Raceway, your vehicle must be modified to include some safety equipment. This equipment protects your bike as well as our racing surface. Check out our DIY BIke Protection page for more info.

Some history about minimoto racing at NNKC
Motorcycles were finally introduced to Desert Park Raceway in 2021 by a small but dedicated group of riders who had previously been running chalk courses time-attack style in local parking lots. We are very happy to be a part of the NNKC family, and look forward to growing the racing scene on the west coast.
